May 22, 2002 Night at Sunshine Speedway
    The track was calling my name, having not been to a drag strip for a while I wanted to go. I got a few friends together and we went to the Sunshine Speedway. Quite a few Mercedes showed up, attending were; 2 SLK32s, 1 C32, 1 E430, 1 E420, and we even saw a 300E there as well. In a world that is dominated by American muscle cars, and Japanese econ box racers, our group of Mercedes automobiles got more then one look. Some quotes we heard throughout the night were; "Hey are you gona race that?", " I heard that those two SLKs are running nitrous", "Next up we have a a pair of $70,000 MERCEDES", "WOW, those things are fast".  In the races we had the 2 SLKs going against each other, and the 2 V8 E-class cars going against each other, the poor little C32 was restricted to smoking sport compacts.




Here is my E420, the E430, C32, and one of the SLK32s waiting in line, most of our time was spent in line waiting.


Now for a little V8 Mercedes racing. The E430 and E420 were quite evenly matched.


After the races we stopped to compare time slips.
