MBCA Autocross
On Sunday Feb. 24th I attended an autocross event put on by MBCA. It was a blast, the event was originally scheduled for Saturday, so on saturday approx. 30-40 cars showed up for the autocross but due to heavy rain the event was moved to Sunday. On Sunday only about 20 cars showed up which is really a sham for those who came the day before. The event consisted of an acceleration run and autocross. I placed 3rd in the acceleration only behind a SLK32 and SL600. In the autocross I came in second only to a E320 w/ slicks and one hell of a driver. I thought that a SLK32 would beat me but the driver was not that great, and she kept going off course (that was just a simple mix up of the cones). The event was held at an airport and during the event people were skydiving and planes were taking off and landing the whole time. It was quite a site to see cars racing and skydivers all at the same time.

Here I am waiting my turn to go while cones are reset, in the background you can see the Skydivers and the Skydive plane.

That's me again waiting, you can see the SL600 and a 140 S420 behind me.

This is my dad taking a lap in his SLK32, he took it easy and did not go above 3000 rpm because the car is still being broken in (only 700 miles at the time). He still did very well and would have beaten everyone if the car was broken in.

As you can see here we let a plane take its shot at the course. No, I don't know what happened here I guess he got confused as to where to land. I looked up and saw a plane on the course I did not know what was happening.

These are some of the cars that attended, a 190E 2.6, C230k, 190E, Dads SLK, My E420, a 65 230SL, and a 123 230E.

Some more, SL600, another SLK32 and a 140 S420 w/ a beautiful red and black interior.

A close up of the SL600 V12.

Some more cars, 300E, 300E, SLK230, a beautiful early 70s CE (sorry don't remember the model #) I do know that it was a 6 cylinder, and a SLK230, the car in the back is the E320 w/ slicks.

The event was a blast. I have some vids I took w/ the dig camera, I don't know how long they will be up so If you want to see do so fast.
